Take Control Of Your Music With A Home Recording Studio - Recording equipment is no longer the preserve of the super rich artist or the corporate record label. Prices of equipment have crashed and you can now... As a matter of fact, with technology being as advanced and cheap as it is these days, it usually makes more sense for musicians to spend their money on their own recording gear than paying a studio to record it themselves. Not only to you get to control every little detail, but you can avoid having your music tainted by the recording engineer or producer at the studio. One of the most important facts that musicians need to keep in mind – especially if you’re someone who hasn’t made a studio recording yet – it takes a lot of time to make a recording sound polished. For most musicians, even the best ones, it will take a lot of time to get the sounds your want and the performances you want. The hours will add up quickly and most studios charge anywhere from $35 per hour up to $80 per hour (and even more, depending on what part of the country you’re in). See Also:
Beginning Your Home Recording Studio - Article describing how to take your first steps into the liberating world of home recording, from where to site it to how to equip it. As a studio owner myself I can tell you that an average band of musicians making an average, not-very-polished recording of one song will take about 2.5 to 3 hours per song. A truly polished recording of one song will probably take about 5 or more hours. Of course all this depends upon how many parts are in your song and the number of members, but this is a pretty accurate average from what I’ve experienced. Now calculate the cost of mixing and mastering and you’ve spent a lot of money – anywhere between $150 and $300 dollars for just one song, if you have your music mixed and mastered at that studio. It will be more if you have the music mastered elsewhere. And we still haven’t even accounted for any CDs you might press. See Also:
